In 1997, D&S Builders, LLC, was started and has steadily grown to become one of the area’s premier hospitality contractors. The company motto was and is, “The road to success is always under construction". Alex & Mary Davis, along with the belated Howard Sexton, founded D&S Builders with the idea that completing projects in a timely manner while building lasting relationships with the owners would be the foundation to a successful business; and this business model has served them well over the last two and a half decades.
Best explained by Alex Davis, “We look at a job and see if it makes sense and fits within the dynamics of our company and works with our schedule and load. There’s a whole checklist we go through to make sure that the work makes sense for us. We do add to the client base, but we’re not going to be that contractor who takes on more than we can do.”. We are never finished learning: learning how to improve for ourselves and our clients. This philosophy has allowed the business to grow and created opportunities for diversity and long lasting relationships. Although the hotel industry has become our specialty, we have been given opportunities in other areas such as retail, education, office buildings, banks, churches, restaurants, and attractions.

Eastern Tennessee is special for many reasons. We are home to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is the most visited national park in the United States. Beauty is all around us and millions of people travel here each year to enjoy this spectacular place. People create commerce and need. This has led to us needing to provide places for people to eat, sleep, and have fun.
We attract every kind of traveler you can think of: from hikers and people who like to rough it to corporate travelers and families from all over the world. We are the place for all seasons; snow skiing in the winter at Ober Gatlinburg, synchronized firefly flashing in the spring, Dollywood/Splash Country and all the different family friendly attractions in the summer, and the spectacular and vibrant colors of the Autumn leaves.
